Meditation for Unity in the Church

Boy with an Egg

Dear God - in the Church we are one body. Your Body.

Minds, hearts, various limbs and extremities - one body. Your Body.

Some parts of our bodies we are modest about. Of some we would rather not speak. Of some parts we are ashamed. Some smell badly or look ugly. We find it hard to love some parts of our body. Your Body.

Sometimes we are proud, even arrogant, about parts of our body. Your Body.

And yet we are one body. Your Body.

Beautiful. Ugly. Proud. Ashamed. Lovely. Nasty. These mean nothing to you, for we are one body. Your Body.

Help us to see you in all parts of our body. Your Body.

with thanks to St. Paul
